Privacy notice
mailrift.com is a private mail domain. It hosts and forwards email for my own projects and for projects I am involved in; it is not a commercial service and is not offered to the public. This website serves solely as its contact page. It sets no cookies, performs no tracking and loads no content from other websites. This notice describes the limited personal data involved and how it is processed.

Visiting this site
The site is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. To deliver the page and protect it against attacks, Cloudflare's network processes technical data about each request: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. I don't keep these logs or use them to identify anyone. Cloudflare acts as my processor and may process this data in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
The site sets no cookies and saves nothing in your browser. The copy button only places the address on your clipboard.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
When you write to me
If you email postmaster@mailrift.com or abuse@mailrift.com, I receive your email address, your name if you include it, your message and anything attached. I use it only to read and answer your message.
Mail arrives on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany and is forwarded from there to my Gmail account, provided by Google. Mail flagged as spam stays on the server and is deleted automatically after 30 days. I keep correspondence only as long as it is needed, unless the law requires longer.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in answering messages sent to me (Art. 6(1)(f)), or steps you ask for before a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Mail for my projects
In addition to this website, the mail server behind mailrift.com hosts and forwards email for the domains of my own projects and of projects I am involved in. Email sent to or from addresses on these domains is processed by this server: it is received, checked for spam, and delivered or forwarded in accordance with the configuration of the respective domain.
Only the data required for this purpose is retained: technical delivery logs, which are overwritten automatically after a short period; messages awaiting delivery or collection; and messages classified as spam, for up to 30 days. Email content is not read, analysed or used for any other purpose.
For such email, the operator of the project you corresponded with is the controller of your personal data, and that project's own privacy notice applies. Where the operator is not me alone, I act on its behalf as its email provider, as a processor within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of its processing, or a copy to take elsewhere, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to postmaster@mailrift.com. Requests concerning email of one of these projects should first be addressed to that project; I will assist where the mail server is involved.
You can also complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, NAIH (Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság), 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9–11, naih.hu, or to the authority where you live.
Nothing else
No profiling, no automated decisions, and no selling or sharing of data for advertising. If this notice changes, the date below changes with it.
